Pennine Waste Exchange

How does the Waste Exchange work?

STEP ONE

Company A produces a waste that they wish to dispose of (or find an alternative to their current disposal route) They contact us to tell us the details of the waste and we put it on the site. It will show as waste available on this web site - we do not advertise the company details - all such details are kept confidential.

STEP TWO

Company B finds the details of the waste by searching through the database and contacts us to express an interest either by email or telephone. We then contact Company A to notify them of the interest and give them the details of Company B so that they can contact them directly. The two parties can then negotiate an exchange of the waste.

Alternatively

STEP ONE

Company X needs a supply of material for their manufacturing process. They fill in the form on this site to request materials. We will add the request to our database and make it available on this web site. Again, no company details are advertised.

STEP TWO

Company Y finds the request for materials by searching through the database. If they have a material that matches the requirements they contact us, either by email or telephone (01274 718420). We then contact Company X to notify them of the source and give them details of Company Y so that they can contact them directly. The two parties can then negotiate an exchange of the waste.

How do I search the database?

There are two lists: Materials available is a list of materials that companies wish to dispose of; Materials wanted is a list of materials that companies and other organisations wish to receive. You search both lists in the same way and from the same place - the home/search page.

Method 1

First enter a single word that describes the material you are searching for (for example - polyester or pallet)

If you are unsure of the exact material you are looking for, you can search for part words, for example searching for poly will find polyethelene, polypropylene, polystyrene, etc

Click the Wanted or Available option. If you want to narrow your search to a particular town, select one from the drop down list on the right. If not, just leave it as "Select Item".

Then click on Search. Your results will be displayed in a few moments.

If there is an item you want to get more details on, click on the Waste Code. Details on that item will then be displayed.

If you are interested in an exchange, contact us via email or phone, quoting the Waste Code and we'll ask the company or organisation concerned to contact you.

Method 2

Select a category (eg. Plastics) and choose the Wanted or Available option.
