LeedsR&D - Research and development management Website
System Summary
Client: Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust
URL: Due to the sensitive
nature of this site, no link is possible
Written in Access 97 and Active Server Pages, this system provides a
facility for the R&D department, which is located on several sites, to
administer applications for research and development, and the ethics process
associated with it.
LTUH have used disparate systems to manage this work for some years.
This project has combined and rationalised these systems to provide a single
point of access for many managers and clerical workers. The systemnot only
manages the information associated with the Trusts R&D projects, it also
produces letters and mailing lists, straight from the internet.
There is a complex set of information associated with a research and
development project. Each project needs to be reviewed by ethics
committees and all associated information needs to be tracked in an auditable
manner so that 'worst case scenarios' can be avoided. The web site
provides an interface to a highly complex database structure (the design of
which was part of the project)
Key Benefits
- Single point of access for several sites within the Trust.
- Standardisation of letters and ability to record what communications
have been received and made, providing an audit trail of the review
process
